Direzione di ricerca

Start by locating the bootstrap command and the code that builds its JWT, then inspect how posit-cli determines the supported Connect server version. Confirm the Connect release that accepts the preferred claims before changing behavior. Done means bootstrap uses iss: posit and aud: posit-connect on compatible versions and keeps working with every older supported version.

Descrizione

Problem

posit connect bootstrap sends the legacy JWT issuer rsconnect-python and audience rsconnect. Posit Connect is adding support for the preferred issuer posit and audience posit-connect in https://github.com/posit-dev/connect/issues/46145, targeted for Connect 2026.11.0.

Requested change

Use iss: posit and aud: posit-connect when the supported Connect version includes this change. Confirm the final Connect release version before enabling these claims.

Preserve compatibility with older Connect servers: they reject the preferred values as an invalid JWT. Continue sending iss: rsconnect-python and aud: rsconnect to older servers, or defer the switch until posit-cli's minimum supported Connect version includes the change.

Validation

  • Bootstrap succeeds against Connect versions that accept the preferred values.
  • Bootstrap remains compatible with every older Connect version supported by posit-cli.
