Direzione di ricerca

The issue involves modifying the root ResultSet handling in the Calcite integration to publish partial rows. Start by examining the ResultSet.next() consumption logic and the materialization rules for schema, values, and limits. Look for existing REST and concurrency tests to understand the expected behavior. Focus on the non-blocking PPL plans and Composite aggregation pagination paths to see where rows can be emitted early.

Descrizione

async calcite enhancement PPL

Parent: #5765

Goal

Reduce first-data latency for query shapes whose Calcite root ResultSet produces stable rows before the primary query completes.

Scope

  • Publish converted root rows while consuming ResultSet.next().
  • Store stable rows with APPEND semantics.
  • Support non-blocking PPL plans and Composite aggregation pagination through the same root ResultSet path.
  • Return one complete current result on every POST timeout and GET; no delta protocol is exposed.
  • Reuse the standard Calcite result materialization rules for schema, values, warnings, timewrap, and query-size limits.

Acceptance criteria

  • A running non-blocking query can return non-empty rows before final completion.
  • Completed Composite pages become visible without a Composite-specific source adapter.
  • Repeated GET responses contain complete replacement views.
  • The final schema, rows, ordering, warnings, and limits match the equivalent synchronous query.
  • Blocking plans remain valid and may return an empty current result until their root emits rows.
  • Concurrent publication, reading, cancellation, and close are covered by REST and concurrency tests.
