Descrizione

What are we doing?

Removing support for Python 3.10 from the cli tool

Why are we doing this?

Python 3.10 is end-of-life as of 2026-10-01. It's no longer receiving security updates and so there could be vulnerabilities in the future that affect the CLI or one of its dependencies, like the pipeline library.

How will we know when it's done?

  • Initially, we should put out a message on Slack stating our intention to remove support for Python 3.10
    • We should also reach out to the one user we found in #280 who's still running Python 3.10 and ask them to upgrade
  • The OpenSAFELY CLI is no longer tested or built for Python 3.10
  • The OpenSAFELY docs have been updated to remove mention of Python 3.10
  • Users have been informed of this change via platform news
  • The RAP team have been informed that the pipeline lib no longer needs to support Python 3.10
