Direzione di ricerca

Start with the release process and the work described in #35956 and #35958 to find where release backups should be stored and how migration tests consume them. The issue names no files or commands, so first identify the existing sandbox and demo backup process. Done means the latest patch backups for the previous two minor releases are available, a backup is taken before each environment upgrade, and written restore and test steps are available.

Descrizione

area:migrations-seed-data backend

Part of #35953. Builds on #35956 and #35958.

Problem

Whoever works on a migration tests it against the few rows they created locally, and setting up a more realistic database takes time every time. A few local rows miss many of the cases a real instance has.

What we want

Before sandbox and demo are upgraded to a new release, we take a backup of them and keep it in a shared place. Anyone working on migrations can download it and test against it.

Acceptance criteria

  • Reference backups of the previous two minor releases (latest patch of each) are available to the team.
  • A new reference backup is taken at each release, before sandbox and demo are upgraded.
  • Written steps explain how to restore a reference backup and run the migration tests (#35958) against it.
