Current Behaviour

Controlify constantly switches between keyboard/mouse input and controller input, seemingly every few milliseconds.

This causes several issues:

  • The UI constantly changes between keyboard/mouse and controller input.
  • Controller navigation in menus becomes unusable because the active input method keeps switching.
  • The Steam Controller's trackpads/sensors appear to be interpreted as button inputs or otherwise trigger unrelated actions.
  • These trackpad/sensor inputs cannot be properly rebound in Controlify.
  • In-game, the trackpads/sensors also trigger unintended actions when touched or used, making normal gameplay impossible.

The controller itself works correctly in Steam and outside of Minecraft, so the issue appears to be specific to Controlify input handling in Minecraft

Expected Behaviour

Controlify should consistently detect the Steam Controller as the active input device while it is being used. Trackpads/sensors should either be exposed as their actual input types and be configurable, or remain unused unless explicitly bound by the user.
The active input method should not constantly switch between keyboard/mouse and controller input due to incidental controller events.

Reproduction Steps
  1. Use Linux Fedora 44 with KDE Plasma
  2. Connect a Steam Controller 2026
  3. Open the Controlify/controller settings
  4. Try navigating the menus with the Steam Controller
  5. Observe that the detected input method constantly switches between keyboard/mouse and controller
  6. Observe that you can't rebind buttons
  7. Enter a world and see you can't do basic actions
