Reproduce the issue in GitHub Copilot CLI 1.0.86 by running /models auto, starting a long-running task, and then using /ask with a benign question. Trace the model-selection path for /ask tangents; done means auto mode displays the answer popup instead of reporting that the model is unsupported.

When I am in auto mode (maybe also in other modes?) I repeatedly get error messages that the model is not supported when using /ask tangents.

3 type /ask something bening

Expected behavior

popup with the answer not the following
