Descrizione

packaging platform: macOS
Problem

On macOS the .app bundle's file name is what users see almost everywhere: Finder, the Applications folder, Launchpad, Spotlight and the Dock all show it (without .app), and the template sets CFBundleName to $(PRODUCT_NAME) = the artifact name, so the bold app menu, "About …" and "Quit …" use it too. CFBundleDisplayName (the product name) is only used by Finder when the app declares a localized display name, which the template doesn't.

When no artifact name is set, flet build macos falls back to the project name, so an app with

[project]
name = "acme_notes"

[tool.flet]
product = "Acme Notes"

ships as acme_notes.app and its menu bar reads "acme_notes", while only window titles and the About panel say "Acme Notes".

The workaround ([tool.flet.macos] artifact = "Acme Notes") works — names with spaces are already handled by the Xcode project — but few people know it's needed.

Proposal

For the macos target, when the artifact name isn't set (--artifact, [tool.flet.macos].artifact, [tool.flet].artifact), default it to the product name (with / and : replaced, which macOS file names can't contain). Other platforms keep the project name: a Windows .exe / Linux binary name stays file-like.

This renames the .app of existing macOS apps that set product but no artifact; [tool.flet.macos] artifact = "<project name>" keeps the old name.

Also: the "Artifact name" docs' resolution order omits [tool.flet].artifact.
