The report concerns the document portal path used after a file picker returns, so start with the portal and document-export code in the Flatpak source tree and reproduce with flatpak documents on a Sway setup using xdg-desktop-portal-gtk. The reporter has not identified the failing layer, so first determine whether the file is accessible from inside the sandbox. Done means a documented root cause and either a fix or a clear note on why the setup is unsupported.

  • Use any flatpak program file picker
  • Select a file with the picker (here the GTK file chooser)
    -> the program fail to access the file
Expected Behavior

the program got access to the file, through the documents xdg portal

Actual Behavior

the program fails to access the file properly

Additional Information

The current DE is Sway + xdg-desktop-portal-gtk ( + xdg-desktop-portal-wlr ). I don't have any other issues with xdg portals.

I can list the new entry with flatpak documents. It effectively is associated to the application, link to an existing path in $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/doc/xxxxx/xxxxx.jpg, but the program still got a problem accessing it. My XDG_RUNTIME_DIR is /run/user-1000.

Here Vesktop (a Discord tweaked front-end) fails with this error message. The preview of the image I'm trying to upload is empty.
