Why

Buckets hold ALB access logs, product uploads, and static sites. Glance has no S3 view at all, although aws-sdk-s3 is already a dependency.

Follow docs/recipes/add-a-service.md.

Steps

  1. Follow docs/recipes/add-a-service.md. The crate is already in Cargo.toml; add the client to AwsClients.
  2. list_buckets returns every bucket in the account whatever the region. Use get_bucket_location and only show buckets in the selected region. Note the empty location string means us-east-1.
  3. Model S3BucketInfo: name, region, creation date, public access block fully on (Option<bool>, None when unreadable), has lifecycle rules (Option<bool>), tags via get_bucket_tagging.
  4. Gotcha: a bucket with no lifecycle or no tags returns an error (NoSuchLifecycleConfiguration, NoSuchTagSet), not an empty result. Treat those as "none", and any other error as unknown.
  5. Console: https://s3.console.aws.amazon.com/s3/buckets/<name>?region=<region>. CLI: aws s3api get-bucket-location --bucket <name>.
  6. Palette entry s3 with alias buckets.

  • cargo fmt --all, cargo clippy --all-targets -- -D warnings, and cargo test --all pass, with output pasted in the PR
