Direzione di ricerca

Start at Repo.cloneUrls and the forge repository abstractions, then trace how GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Cloudflare Artifacts obtain and cache tokens. The proposed forge.repos.gitCredentials(repo) entry point should return the clone URL, provider-specific username, token, and expiration, while reusing existing token caches. Verify each provider against its authentication requirements and confirm that browser behavior remains unchanged.

Descrizione

enhancement

Repo.cloneUrls gives the URL to clone, but not how to authenticate with it. Each forge wants a different username next to the token:

  • GitHub: x-access-token with an app installation token
  • GitLab: oauth2 with an OAuth token
  • Bitbucket: x-token-auth with an access token
  • Cloudflare Artifacts: a separate repo token that you mint first

With app auth it's also the installation token, not the app credentials, so the caller has to know to call installations.token() and when it expires.

const { url, username, password, expiresAt } = await forge.repos.gitCredentials(repo)

It could reuse the token the provider already has, and the installation token cache for app auth. It wouldn't run git itself, so nothing changes for browsers.

I am unsure about this one, because this is a git-transport thingy. In a few years, who knows if we will be using git
