The three search steps in skills/Cortex/References/CompleteGuide.md (Search, steps 1–3: lexical, frontmatter, wikilink) run rg ... ~/.claude/LIFEOS/MEMORY/KNOWLEDGE/ --type md -l without --glob '!_*'. So their results include the generated files: _index.md (the type: moc dashboards per domain), _log.md and _schema.md.

That differs from the rest of the system:

  • The Ingest steps in the same guide already pass --glob '!_*'. That has been so since v5.0.0.
  • SKILL.md says an archive search returns "a deduplicated table of matching notes (title, domain, status, tags)". A MOC is not a note and has no status or tags.
  • Every code path that walks the archive skips underscore files: LIFEOS/TOOLS/Cortex.ts, KnowledgeQuery.ts, KnowledgeLint.ts, KnowledgeDistill.ts, KnowledgeHarvester.ts ("generated MOCs/schema + _archive") and PULSE/modules/wiki.ts.

How much it matters

On one install, measured for four queries: 2 to 4 of the 24 to 200 matching files were _index.md or _log.md, and each of those hits repeated a note that the search had already found. So the noise is small. The model reads each hit's frontmatter for the table, so it will likely drop the MOCs by itself; I did not test that.

Proposed direction

Add --glob '!_*' to the three Search commands, as the Ingest steps already do. I did not patch this locally.
