Installing the plugin into a ZBrush 2022 to 2025 that lives under C:\Program Files needs administrator rights, so Studio runs a helper as administrator and Windows shows the UAC prompt.
tools/test_uac_install.py tests that path against a fake ZBrush: an update over the old plugin, a removal, a declined prompt and the installed build's helper (how to run it).
- Run the script once with the prompts. It is written and its other checks pass, but the UAC steps haven't run yet.
Two things the script can't cover need someone with the right setup:
- A real ZBrush 2022 to 2025 under Program Files. Install the plugin from Studio > Settings > Older ZBrush, restart ZBrush, check that Zplugin > ZOrbit is there and a pick works, then remove it again.
- A standard Windows account, not an administrator. Windows then asks for an administrator's password, and the helper runs as that other account. After the install, picks should still arrive: the plugin has to use your own
%LOCALAPPDATA%\ZOrbit, not the administrator's.
If you try either, say what happened. zscript_bridge.log in %LOCALAPPDATA%\ZOrbit shows the last pick.
