Start by checking whether the UNIUN Cloud free model answers, since the payload says it failed earlier. Then restore the UNIUN Cloud group from commit 5fcdceb in integration_test/shiv_chat_regressions_e2e_test.dart, which exercises GenerateOneShotUseCase, SendChatStreamUseCase and UniunGatewayClient.streamChatCompletion. Run it with scripts/device_test.sh run on a phone connected to UNIUN Cloud; done means the group passes without publishing anything.

What is left

PR #292 added device guards for the Shiv chat issues (#199, #123, #139) on the local models only. The UNIUN Cloud tests were left out on purpose, because the cloud was not working when #292 was written. They still need to be written and run.

Cloud is off right now: check it first

On the test phone, with the device's identity connected to UNIUN Cloud, the only free model in the catalog (gemma-4-31b-it) was unreliable:

  • one-shot (GenerateOneShotUseCase, backendOverride: uniunCloud) returned an empty string on some runs and "Twelve" on others;
  • streamed chat (SendChatStreamUseCase, UniunGatewayClient.streamChatCompletion) failed with OpenAI API error ... "code": 500, "message": "Internal error encountered.", "status": "INTERNAL";
  • background extraction on the cloud backend failed the same way (Extract: LLM returned null);
  • in a later run the model probe found no free model that answered at all.

Whether this is the gateway, the upstream provider or the free tier itself is not known. Please check it before adding the tests.

Tests to add once the cloud answers

A first version existed in the history of #292 (commit 5fcdceb, group UNIUN Cloud in integration_test/shiv_chat_regressions_e2e_test.dart). It was removed from the PR; it can be restored from there.

  • model list is non-empty and has a free model;
  • a one-shot call returns text;
  • a streamed chat call yields tokens and ends, and the time to the first token is printed;
  • #123 on the cloud: with the real chat page, the dots and the Stop button are shown from send until the reply, and Stop ends the turn. #123 was only ever seen with the cloud model;
  • an empty cloud completion is saved as (no response), not a blank bubble (fix in #292).

Run on a phone that is connected to UNIUN Cloud. Use scripts/device_test.sh run integration_test/shiv_chat_regressions_e2e_test.dart. The test must not publish anything.
