Description
Add built-in OpenTelemetry (OTel) support to Lambda Web Functions, so you can collect distributed traces, and optionally metrics, without running and configuring your own telemetry pipeline. The request covers the following:
- Lambda-generated spans for each request, such as time spent in the Lambda endpoint, cold starts, and request handling.
- Trace context propagation, including starting a trace when the incoming request doesn't carry one.
- A managed way to export OTLP data from your application to Amazon CloudWatch, or an OpenTelemetry-compatible backend that you choose.
Tell us how you would use this: which backends you export to, whether you need traces, metrics, logs, or all three, and whether you would use auto-instrumentation or your own OpenTelemetry SDK setup. Please add details as comments.
