OpenPaste never records copies from apps on the ignore list. The default list covers 1Password, Bitwarden, Dashlane, KeePassXC, Keychain Access, LastPass, Proton Pass and Passwords, but none of these match it today:

  • KeePass (the Windows app; the KeePassXC entry is longer than the name, so it doesn't match)
  • Enpass
  • NordPass
  • RoboForm

Most password managers also mark their copies as private, which OpenPaste already skips, but the ignore list is the safety net for the ones that don't.

Where to look
  • src/shared/settings.ts: DEFAULT_IGNORED_APPS, and isIgnoredApp for how entries match. It's case-insensitive, and entries longer than 3 characters also match when the app's name or id merely contains them
  • tests/settings-color.test.ts: the isIgnoredApp tests
Done when
  • The four apps above are ignored with the default list. Swapping KeePassXC for KeePass covers both
  • Because of the "contains" matching, check each new entry can't catch an unrelated app. For example, adding Keeper would also ignore the database tool Beekeeper Studio, so leave it out or use its exact name
  • Tests cover the new entries and one look-alike that must still be recorded, and pnpm test passes

People who already have OpenPaste keep the list saved in their settings, so this changes the default for new installs only. That's expected.
