Why it matters
The format filter is meant to answer "can I load this in my engine". Values like desktop-app (34 uses), cli, npm, library, middleware, React, Vue, various, and Unity/Unreal/Godot answer a different question (how the thing is delivered) and sit in the same dropdown as png and fbx. Case is also mixed (ktx2, tmx, gdshader vs PNG, FBX).

  • 881 format uses, 120 unique, all in site/format-vocabulary.json; the odd values above are in the vocabulary itself.

Suggested approach
Add an optional delivery field (values like desktop-app, web-app, cli, library, engine-plugin, source) and move the non-file values there via a one-off script plus value-aliases.json; normalise format case to lowercase in the vocabulary; replace various with the actual list or drop it. Give the site a "Delivery" filter group next to Format.

Done when
Every formats value is a file or container format, the delivery kinds live in delivery, and the format filter no longer shows app types.
