On a failing run, retain Playwright traces and check whether the mock server received the request. Done when the intermittent failures can be diagnosed from the captured evidence and the underlying cause is identified.

Two PR runs on macOS failed in end-to-end tests that the PRs did not touch, and both passed on a re-run of the failed job with no code change. Unit tests passed in both runs.

Run 1 — PR #215, CI run 37687243401, attempt 1, test (macos-latest):

  • tests/e2e/ui.test.ts > renders hostile model output inert: waiting for .message.assistant with done
  • tests/e2e/ui.test.ts > removes SVG images and MathML while preserving HTML markdown and literal code: waiting for Namespace payload complete.
  • tests/e2e/ui.test.ts > strips model CSS overlays while preserving markdown and syntax highlighting: waiting for CSS payload complete.
  • tests/e2e/ui.test.ts > shows a diff for approval and applies the edit when Approve is clicked: waiting for .tool-card.awaiting

All four failed with TimeoutError: locator.waitFor: Timeout 30000ms exceeded. The four failures finished within about 50 ms of each other (21:12:16), which points to one stalled app or mock server rather than four separate bugs.

Run 2 — PR #216, CI run 37690975427, attempt 1, test (macos-latest):

  • tests/e2e/projects.test.ts > multiple open projects > keeps chats, drafts and workspace file reads separate when switching tabs

In both cases the mock assistant's reply or tool card never appeared. #125 tracks a different intermittent failure (transcript_view) and may share a cause.

To settle it: capture the Electron main-process log and the mock server's request log on failure (or retain Playwright traces for macOS), and check whether the mock server received the request.
