Context

latest.ddb is built here by utils/fetch_releases_from_stac.py (hard-coded view list, DuckDB 1.3.2) and published to GitHub Pages at https://labs.overturemaps.org/data/latest.ddb. OvertureMaps/stac#204 moves that responsibility into the STAC catalog, which generates the file from the release's theme=*/type=* directories and links it from the root catalog.json as ./latest.ddb. The implementation is in OvertureMaps/stac#213.

Once that ships, this repo only needs to hold issues, discussions, the README, and the 404 redirect page for retired files.

Problem

Two sources for the same file will drift, and this repo's build keeps a view list that has to be updated by hand for every new feature type.

Expected outcome

  • This repo no longer builds or serves latest.ddb.
  • The README and the Pages 404 page send readers to the STAC copy.
  • The Python utility, its tests, and its CI jobs are removed.

Notes

  • Breaking: https://labs.overturemaps.org/data/latest.ddb stops resolving. GitHub Pages cannot issue an HTTP redirect, and DuckDB ATTACH does not follow an HTML meta refresh, so existing consumers (for example OvertureMaps/workshop) must switch to the STAC URL. A redirect at the CDN or domain layer, if one fronts this path, would avoid the break.
  • Should not merge until OvertureMaps/stac#213 is released and the production STAC catalog serves latest.ddb.
