Summary

TestKilledAttemptConvergesAfterRestart (src/merchant/receive_intent_test.go:152, the #502 kill-boundary row) failed once in a heavily loaded full-package run (~587 s with -race), hitting a ~5 s convergence wait. It did not reproduce in 10 isolated repetitions, with or without the merchant ndsctl seam from #729. Thin evidence so far — filing so the intermittence is on the record rather than in one contributor's terminal; not urgent.

Found while validating #729.

Verified on

  • Commit: cb4db7f (main, 2026-10-07); bare linux host
  • 1 failure in 3 full-suite runs; 0/10 isolated runs (with seam), 0/10 (without)

(The failure detail lines scrolled past in the suite log; the 5.80 s duration points at one of the test's 5 s convergence deadlines. Re-running the suite with -v and capturing the assertion line is the first step of any investigation.)

Not reliably reproducible yet:

Troubleshooting guide

  1. The test installs its own fake ndsctl (installRenewalNdsctl), so the #729 package seam cannot change which binary it execs — the identical 0/10 rate with and without the seam supports "load-dependent timing", not interference.
  2. If it recurs, capture -v output first; the interesting question is which convergence wait expired (grant retry cadence vs. journal reconciliation after the simulated restart).
