Context
Open-Locker currently has a bill of materials and installation documentation, but it does not yet have a public step-by-step guide for physically building the locker hardware.
External builders need a repeatable assembly guide that explains how the validated Raspberry Pi based setup is built, wired, mounted, and prepared for operation.
Scope
- Create a hardware build and assembly guide for external builders.
- The ticket and project tracking should stay in English, but the guide itself may be written in German if that is clearer for the target audience.
- Cover the validated Raspberry Pi based build only.
- Reference the existing bill of materials and installation documentation instead of duplicating them.
- Document the physical assembly flow, including cabinet preparation, lock mounting, connection board usage, relay board wiring, power distribution, Raspberry Pi/controller placement, and Modbus/RS485 wiring.
- Include safety and validation notes where relevant.
- Add placeholders or TODO notes for photos that still need to be taken.
- Publish the guide in the repository documentation and make it available on the website.
Out of scope
- ESP-based build instructions. The ESP variant is planned but should not be documented as a build guide until it has been validated.
Notes / open questions
- Photos of the reference build still need to be created.
- The guide should be written for people outside the core team, so it should not assume prior knowledge of the project internals.
