Start by locating the Album and Song UI components and how their displayed columns are populated and sorted. Trace where release metadata comes from, then add the release year to both views and support ascending and descending sorting. Done when both views show the year and sorting by it works in either direction.

I want to be able to see what the latest release is for an artist. For this, I need to be able to see the release year.

Describe the solution you'd like
In the Album en Song UI, add a column showing the release year.
Make it possible to sort ascending/descending on the year.
