What would you like Filee to do?

Add a metadata stripping tool for images and PDFs, accompanied by a dedicated section in the App Settings that allows users to configure and customize which specific metadata fields should be automatically stripped or preserved by default.

Why / when would you use it?

  • Granular Control: Some users might want to completely sanitize every byte of metadata (GPS, device info, author names), while others might prefer to strip only location data while keeping timestamps or file creation dates intact.

  • Streamlined Workflows: Having a pre-configured default preset saves users from having to manually toggle options every time they process files.

  • Privacy Tailoring: Different sharing contexts require different levels of anonymization; customizable settings let users match Filee's behavior to their personal privacy needs.

Ideas for how it could work (optional — engine or library suggestions welcome)

Configure all metadata behavior directly within a "Metadata Privacy" Preset menu in App Settings:

  • Default / Balanced Preset (Default): Strips GPS coordinates, author names, network paths, and software editing history, keeping only timestamps and camera settings.

  • Maximum Privacy Preset: Strips 100% of all metadata.

  • Custom Presets: Allows users to create, name, and save custom presets specifying which categories to preserve or strip.
