Problem

DifferentiationInterface and DifferentiationInterfaceTest both fail PkgEval on Julia 1.15.0-DEV (daily run of 2026-10-26). There are two separate causes.

1. JET compat (DI tests: unknown, DIT: also hit). Julia 1.15.0-DEV.140 requires JET ≥ 0.12, but the registered DifferentiationInterfaceTest v0.11.0 restricts JET to ≤ 0.11.6, so the DI test environment can't be resolved:

  • DifferentiationInterfaceTest constrains JET to ≤0.11.6
  • JET ≤0.11.6 allows no version of julia

main already allows JET = "0.9,0.10,0.11,0.12" in DifferentiationInterfaceTest/Project.toml, but its version is still 0.11.0, so this was never released.

2. AllocCheck → GPUCompiler → LLVM.jl (DIT: precompile). DIT has AllocCheck as a hard dependency. On Julia 1.15 (LLVM 23), LLVM.jl has no LLVMExtra_jll build, so GPUCompiler fails to precompile and DIT is skipped:

Suggested fixes

  1. Release DIT v0.11.1 with JET = "0.9, 0.10, 0.11, 0.12, 0.13" (JET 0.13.1 is the latest). Bump DI's test compat on DIT if needed. This should fix DI's PkgEval run.
  2. Move AllocCheck from [deps] to [weakdeps] with a DifferentiationInterfaceTestAllocCheckExt extension (like the JET extension), so that DIT can still load when GPUCompiler/LLVM.jl is broken on a new Julia. Otherwise, wait for an upstream LLVMExtra_jll build for LLVM 23.
