Trace how unauthenticated and authenticated pagination is currently performed, then add tests covering bounded pagination, human-name filtering, and import behavior. Done means eligible human authors are discovered while bot identities and username-like values are ignored, existing precedence and ordering remain intact, and rate-limit behavior is documented.

Problem

The contributor API may omit people or return GitHub accounts with no usable display name. The importer currently only inspects a small initial commit list for co-authors.

Scope

Discover human commit authors from recent commit history with bounded unauthenticated/authenticated pagination. Reject bot identities and username-like values; preserve existing metadata author precedence, ordering, and deduplication. Keep this separate from the contributor fallback count fix in #56.

Acceptance criteria

  • Find eligible human names in commit history and ignore handles/automated identities.
  • Bound page scans and document rate-limit behavior.
  • Add tests for pagination, filtering, and import behavior.
