What happened?
Summary

The AMD GPU is detected, but the amdgpu driver fails during initialization of its UVD v6 block. The UVD ring test times out with error -110, the driver probe aborts, and no AMD render device is created.

System
  • ZimaOS: v1.8.0, build 2026-10-15
  • Kernel: 6.18.9
  • Host: Dell OptiPlex 5000 SFF (DMI board 0DC48C, BIOS 1.31.0)
  • Integrated GPU: Intel RocketLake-S UHD 750 (8086:4c8a), using i915
  • Discrete GPU: AMD Lexa/Polaris 12 (1002:6987, subsystem 1028:1713, revision c1), 4 GB
  • AMD HDMI audio function: 1002:aae0

Additional warnings appear while the driver cleans up after the failed probe. The AMD GPU’s audio function also reports that it cannot leave D3cold afterward.

Current result
  • The amdgpu module is present, but the AMD GPU has no bound kernel driver.
  • /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:01:00.0/driver is absent.
  • /dev/dri contains only the Intel render device; no AMD render node appears.
  • The AMD device is listed by lspci with no “Kernel driver in use.”
  • UVD and VCE firmware are found, so this does not appear to be simply missing firmware.
  • No AMDGPU kernel parameter or modprobe option is configured.
Expected result

The AMD GPU should initialize successfully, bind to amdgpu, and create its DRM/render devices.

Request

Could the ZimaOS team investigate an AMDGPU/UVD initialization regression affecting this Polaris 12/Lexa device on kernel 6.18.9, and advise whether there is a supported kernel update or workaround?

I have not applied a boot-parameter workaround or changed ZimaOS system files. I would prefer a supported update or fix.
