The payload names no files or tests, so start by finding where the launcher builds its app list and where the search bar matches app names, both in the Kotlin Android code. Decide where a user-set display name would be stored and whether search matches the custom name, the original name, or both; the issue leaves this open. Done means a custom name shows in the app list and can be found by search, with the original name still available. Ask the maintainers about the search behaviour before writing code.

Feature description

Choose any custom name for apps to be displayed with. Optimally, the custom name of choice would be accessible from the search bar, as well as the original name (optionally).

Why do you want this feature?

Sometimes the name of an app is way too long, or starts with characters or words i don't usually scroll for in my list, or i want to hide the name of a brand, or want to have that app icon appear at a different place in my list.
