Some time ago I added some diagrams to the documentation (see here) outlining the broad structure of the model/code, mostly for the benefit of teammates working on the project.

These diagrams were incomplete at the time and since we implemented the new model are also pretty out of date.

I think we need to decide whether they're worth keeping, in which case they should be updated, or they should be removed.
