Brief summary of bug
Because I'm sure everyone is on edge right now, this does not affect model runs at all.
The fleximod-test job in the fleximod_test.yaml GitHub Workflow looks like it's testing two versions of Python, but it's actually just testing the ubuntu-latest runner default twice. It needs a setup-python step to actually use the versions specified in the matrix.
I'm planning to implement a fix here and the equivalent workflow in CTSM; I will then ping maintainers of other components to update their copies, if they have them.

See, e.g., this log from a recent run of the 3.7 job. If you expand the "Set up job" section and then "Runner image," you'll see a link to the included software, which lists Python 3.12. This is never overridden in the job.
