Start by checking whether prerequisite #810 has produced the vetted New York timezone component, since the issue says not to invent it. Once it exists, add the BEGIN/END VTIMEZONE string with STANDARD and DAYLIGHT subcomponents in the new src/lib/ics/timezone.ts, using src/lib/domain/section.ts as the reference for the surrounding code. Done when src/lib/ics/timezone.test.ts passes, and pnpm lint and pnpm typecheck are clean.

What to build

Include the approved New York timezone description in exported calendars. This tells calendar apps when the local clock changes and keeps repeating classes at the correct time.

Files

  • src/lib/ics/timezone.ts (new file)
  • Starting example: src/lib/domain/section.ts
    Code to add or extend: newYorkTimezone(): string.

Steps

  1. Wait for the timezone prerequisite’s vetted component, then encode it as a CRLF-joined string with TZID America/New_York.
  2. STANDARD uses offsets -0400→-0500 and first Sunday of November; DAYLIGHT uses -0500→-0400 and second Sunday of March. Preserve the officer-reviewed DTSTART/reference years.
  3. Test presence/order of BEGIN/END VTIMEZONE and both subcomponents; do not fabricate a missing vetted component.

Example

Component has exactly one STANDARD and one DAYLIGHT; no computer timezone dependency.

Check it works

In src/lib/ics/timezone.test.ts, check the example above and the failure or limit described in the steps. Run pnpm test -- src/lib/ics/timezone.test.ts, pnpm lint and pnpm typecheck.
