Context

Valeriia feedback (Telegram, 2026-10-21): external AI design tools (e.g. Higgsfield) look useful for Loom/YouTube thumbnails — better photo quality, background removal so the person takes more of the frame, richer templates than “drop photo into Grace-era template.”

Alexey decision: do not adopt an external design platform now. Keep using our banner-generator path; park improvements here as backlog research.

Goal

Review how we generate event/podcast banners and YouTube thumbnails today, and list concrete upgrades we can do in-house (templates, bg-remove step, larger subject crop) without switching tools.

Ideas to evaluate

  • Better podcast/event thumbnail templates (person larger on canvas)
  • Optional background removal before composite (agent or scripted step)
  • Whether any external tool is worth a later spike (Higgsfield etc.) — out of scope until we revisit
  • Overlap with existing Ops surfaces Valeriia already saw for podcasts

Non-goals (for now)

  • Integrating Higgsfield or similar into production
  • Replacing banner-generator wholesale
