Direzione di ricerca

Start by locating the captions Font Family picker and reading how it currently gets and saves its options; inspect the caption settings in project-config.json to understand the existing fontFamily behavior. The issue offers two possible approaches—importing a font file or entering a family name—so clarify which to implement before starting. Done means a custom font can be selected in the UI and used for caption rendering.

Descrizione

The Font Family selector for captions only offers a handful of hardcoded options (System Sans-Serif, System Serif, Inter, Georgia, Times New Roman). There's no way to use a custom typeface from the UI.

I understand that listing every installed system font could bloat the picker and add rendering/lookup overhead — that makes sense. A lighter alternative would be enough:

  • A "Load font…" / custom font option in the Font Family picker, where I can manually import a font file (ttf/otf) or type a font family name that Cap then resolves via NSFont/CoreText.

That way the default list stays small, but manual font loading becomes possible for people who want a consistent brand typeface on their captions.

Editing project-config.json and setting fontFamily in the caption settings does work today (the renderer resolves it fine), but it's undocumented and has to be repeated for every project — a built-in option would be much appreciated.
