This is a maintainer-only branch cutover with no code change to make. Start with git log 5ea746ae3..bp-dev to list the commits that landed on bp-dev after the baseline, then decide where each belongs. Finish only after #226 and #224 are done, and the checklist is complete when bp-7.1 installs from its URL and bp-dev accepts sync PRs.

Baseline

bp-dev was at 5ea746ae3ad5926ceb8dd5f7a5404269ebbdb347 (#210) on 2026-11-01, when the 7.1 work started. Anything that lands on bp-dev after that is other contributors' work that bp-7.1-dev doesn't have yet, and it must not be lost in the cutover.

Checklist

  • Before the cutover PR: list everything on bp-dev since the baseline (git log 5ea746ae3..bp-dev). Check each change and place it where it belongs now: the library, ford-op/opendbc bp-full, or the BluePilot layer. Then merge bp-dev into bp-7.1-dev so the cutover PR carries all of it
  • One PR bp-7.1-dev → bp-dev, merged with a merge commit (never squash: a squash cuts the history that makes later syncs normal merges)
  • Protect bp-dev: PRs only, the required checks from #224
  • Point the sync job at bp-dev
  • Cut bp-7.1 from a green, driven bp-dev; later updates are bp-dev → bp-7.1 PRs
  • README: install URL for bp-7.1
  • Announce, then mark bp-7.0 and bp-6.0 deprecated (a renamed branch stops updates for devices on it, so announce first)
  • Sort out the open PRs against bp-dev (most target code that moved to the library or bp-full)

Done when

bp-7.1 installs from its URL and bp-dev takes sync PRs from bp-sunnypilot with no hand work.
