Direzione di ricerca

Start by tracing the automation that opens release pull requests and reviewing the repository’s CodeRabbit configuration and release checklist. Compare the two proposed approaches: opening the pull request from a human account or explicitly requesting a review after it opens. Done means release pull requests receive a review or the checklist clearly confirms whether one ran; the issue does not identify specific files or tests.

Descrizione

chore ci/cd

The automated review never runs on the release pull request, and its status check still reports success. The one pull request that carries every change in a release therefore gets the least automated review of any pull request in the repository, and nothing on the pull request says so.

What happens

  1. The release pull request is opened from an automation account.
  2. CodeRabbit skips it, because it does not review pull requests opened by bots.
  3. Its status check reports success anyway.

A reader scanning the checks sees the same green entry they see on a reviewed pull request. The skip is only visible if you go looking for the review itself and notice there is none.

The same shape of problem exists for size: CodeRabbit also skips a pull request above its file-count limit, and that skip reports as passing too. A release pull request is usually well above that limit, so both reasons apply at once.

Proposed fix

Two options:

  1. Open the release pull request from a human account, so the review runs the way it does on every other pull request.
  2. Keep the automation as the author and request the review explicitly by comment on the pull request once it is open.

Option 2 is the smaller change and can live in whatever opens the pull request. Option 1 removes the special case entirely.

Either way the release checklist should treat "the review ran" as something to confirm, because a green check does not carry that information today.
