What happened

2026-10-05, staging-20261005-7e30335645c8 (no code change from dev@f81638787). Found in the v0.7.1 staging happy-path pass.

The repository was on branch work. It had an uncommitted edit to strutil.go and an untracked mine.txt. A /task changed strutil.go and strutil_test.go, and its landing was refused, correctly, with:

did not merge cleanly and was kept: your own uncommitted work in strutil.go, mine.txt is in the same files, so your tree was left exactly as it was

The task never touched mine.txt. That file was only carried into the "world this task started from" commit at the base of the task's branch. The sentence names it as a clash anyway, so the person goes looking for a conflict in a file that has none. Nothing was lost; the tree was verified unchanged by shasum.

Replication

Deterministic (no model). A landing test whose task branch starts with the carried-changes commit (an untracked file plus an edit to a tracked file) and whose work changes only the tracked file. Assert that the refusal names only the tracked file.

Field. OPENROUTER_API_KEY:

  1. In a repository on work with strutil.go committed, add an untracked mine.txt and append a comment to strutil.go.
  2. /task add a Reverse function with a table test to strutil.go.
  3. Expand the landing card.

Cost is about $0.05.

Where

The landing refusal that builds your own uncommitted work in … (search that string in internal/session). It appears to list every path in the carried-changes commit rather than the intersection with the paths the task's own commits changed.

The fix

The sentence names only files that both the person's uncommitted work and the task's own changes touched: here strutil.go.

Acceptance

  • Unit: the refusal for the case above names strutil.go and not mine.txt.
