Research direction

Start by building or borrowing a 50k-track library, then profile sync time, memory, song and search lists, artwork requests, Home queries, and scrolling. The issue names no files or tests; use Android Macrobenchmark to measure scroll jank. Done means cold start to Home is under 1.5 seconds and all lists scroll at 60 fps on a mid-range device.

Description

area/library area/performance priority/p0

Validated with a tiny library only. Build or borrow a 50k-track library and profile.

  • Initial sync time and memory; batch sizes and transactions
  • Songs tab and search with Paging 3 instead of full lists
  • Artwork request throttling and memory cache sizing
  • Home queries (recently played joins, seeded random) under 16 ms
  • Scroll jank measured with Macrobenchmark

Done when cold start to Home is under 1.5 s and all lists scroll at 60 fps on a mid-range device.
