Research direction

Start with ShellHelper.OpenFolder and the self-contained Windows publish configuration; the stack trace and missing System.Diagnostics.Process assembly point to that path. Compare the published dependencies with the code that launches Explorer, then verify the button opens the saved folder in a self-contained Windows build. The payload does not name a test file.

Description

Bug
Steps to reproduce
  1. Downloaded ILSpy_windows_selfcontained_11.1.0.9782-x64.zip from the 11.1 release, unzipped it and ran ILSpy.exe
  2. Opened a .NET Framework 4.7.2 Windows Forms app (.exe) with File > Open
  3. Right-clicked it in the tree and chose Save Code, then picked a folder
  4. "Decompilation complete" appeared with an "Open Explorer" button. Clicked the button

Expected: File Explorer opens the folder the code was saved to.
Actual: An "ILSpy — unhandled exception" dialog appears. The code itself was saved correctly; only the Open Explorer button fails.

Details
  • Product in use: ILSpy (self-contained Windows x64 zip)
  • Version in use: 11.1.0.9782
  • OS: Windows x64
  • System.Diagnostics.Process.dll present in the ILSpy folder: No
  • ILSpy.deps.json mentions System.Diagnostics.Process: No (so the publish itself seems to have left it out, not the zipping)
  • Possibly related: #4055 (same ShellHelper.OpenFolder code path, different failure)
  • Happy to help test a fix.
