Research direction

Start by tracing the .USR import path, splitAuthorNames, the cc_missing_title message, and the code that maps Location, SetItem.Caller, and dance placeholders. The report lists six rough edges, several framed as questions that need decisions before changes can be made. Done means the import behavior and wording for each point have been decided and the resulting changes are verified against the beta tester's examples.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

area: import priority: low severity: minor type: bug

Smaller things seen importing a second beta tester's .USR.

Decisions (maintainer, 2026-10-28)

  1. Titles with the article at the end move it to the front: "Baby Rose, The" → "The Baby Rose", "Bastringue, La" → "La Bastringue", "Thing of Trust, A" → "A Thing of Trust". The file has 31 such titles. Articles to handle: The/A/An/La/Le/Les/L'; any others to be confirmed in the PR.
  2. "And Others": the two examples are "Sharks in the Pond" and "Sharks in the Pond (var)", Author1 Rick Mohr, Author2 "And Others". splitAuthorNames drops the "and" and creates a choreographer named "Others". Awaiting the maintainer's call: drop it, or keep "and others" as a note?
  3. Program titles match how Caller's Companion renders a set: "2024/04/20 - NEFFA Contra Party" (CC's zi_DateLocation_c: YYYY/MM/DD - Location).
  4. Per-slot callers are skipped unless the program has more than one caller. SetItem.Caller holds first names ("Michael", "Lisa"), including the set's own caller; they are kept only when the set's slots name more than one caller.
  5. "Dance not imported" placeholders: the maintainer wants every cause of one addressed. A slot becomes one when its dance did not commit in that import:
    • (a) the person chose Skip for a new dance, or an ambiguous row was skipped in an unattended import;
    • (b) the dance's commit failed;
    • (c) the SetItem names a zk_Dance_ID that is not in the Dance table, because the dance was deleted in CC.
    • Already handled: re-import skips (#1982, #1988) and per-row Edit (#1980). The tester's file produces none.
  6. The missing-title warning is reworded for .USR ("The pasted dance had no title" is wrong there).
