Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the current SCA scanning flow, then clarify the reachability, severity, exploit-probability, and remediation-effort criteria before implementation.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

Dependency management is the typically the number one source of toil for codebase maintainers.

Expand SCA scanning to become more "agentic"

  • Identify the riskiest artifacts
    • To do this accurately we need to determine "reachability" of the library, especially the vulnerable symbols or methds
    • Factor in severity
    • Use threat models or codebase understanding to ascertain the probability of exploit
  • Determine the effort to remediate
