Research direction

Start by reproducing the lesson resume flow in GitHub Codespaces: quit the lesson, restart the Codespace, and run psql --username=freecodecamp --dbname=postgres. Trace why the local PostgreSQL server is not accepting connections after restart; done means the command connects normally when resuming the lesson.

Description

bug
Describe the bug

I completed 35% of 'Build a database of Video Game Characters' yesterday. And today when I tried to start the lesson, I am unable to login to psql with the command psql --username=freecodecamp --dbname=postgres.

Here's what I get after I run the command:

camper: /project$ psql --username=freecodecamp --dbname=postgres psql: error: could not connect to server: Connection refused Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/var/run/postgresql/.s.PGSQL.5432"?

To Reproduce
  1. Start the lesson for the first time.
  2. Quit it.
  3. Go to Codespaces page in Github and start it.
Expected behavior

Should connect to psql normally.
