Description

I have successfully installed Feedland on my own server and I am able to use Feedland as expected including with news products.

I would like to report what I am using for the urlNewsProducts config setting so that the menu item “My news product...” correctly links to my active news product.

  • In the config file, I set "flNewsProducts": true,
  • In config, I set "urlNewsProducts": "https://feed.stor.im/",
  • I tested the menu item to "My news product..." but it went to https://feed.stor.im/anton which was an empty page.
  • After testing and looking to see how feedland.org does this, I determined that urlNewsProducts should be set to the Feedland server with the addition of news-product?=username, so in my case it is "urlNewsProducts": "https://feed.stor.im/newsproduct?username="
  • So, my account ‘anton’ correctly results in the news product at https://feed.stor.im/newsproduct?username=anton
  • I then wanted to try a different domain (my.stor.im) to serve news products. The configforhttps.json example in this repo, and a few mentions elsewhere, suggests this is possible, but I could not find documentation for how exactly to connect a different domain to Feedland. I looked across the Feedland, Feedland Install, and other repositories. One reference is at https://github.com/scripting/feedland/blob/main/worknotes.md
  • I believe there is a missing instruction for how to set the url for urlNewsProducts. That is, what DNS to use, or how to set up in PagePark, or what file to put into the folder for that subdomain.
  • While it would be nice to have this feature, I don’t need it as I have the news products for two accounts on my server (anton, dukeriver) and am serving them to other domains using PagePark config setting for urlSiteContents.
