Línea de trabajo

Start by tracing the specific-window recording and pause/resume flow in the Electron application; the issue does not name files, tests, or entry points. Reproduce on Windows with Microsoft Edge by recording a selected window, pausing, and checking whether webpage or PDF content keeps updating. Done means the recorded Edge window remains responsive and renders normally after pausing and resuming.

Descripción

Describe the bug

When recording a specific application/window with Recordly on Windows, pausing the screen recording can cause the recorded window to become visually stuck or frozen.

The issue is particularly noticeable with Microsoft Edge. After pausing the recording, the Edge window may stop updating correctly on the screen. When browsing webpages or displaying a PDF document, the content can become stuck and the window does not refresh/render normally.

This makes it difficult to continue the recording because the browser content appears frozen even though the user may still be interacting with the browser.

To Reproduce

  1. Open Microsoft Edge on Windows.
  2. Open a webpage or a PDF document in Edge.
  3. Start a screen recording in Recordly and select the specific Edge window.
  4. Browse the webpage or scroll through the PDF while recording.
  5. Pause the recording.
  6. Resume interacting with the Edge window or continue browsing.
  7. Observe the Edge window/content.

Actual behavior

After pausing the recording, the specific recorded window can become stuck/frozen.

For example:

  • Webpage content may stop updating.
  • Scrolling may not visually update correctly.
  • PDF content may become stuck on one frame/page.
  • The browser window may continue to appear frozen even though the user is interacting with it.
  • The issue is especially reproducible with Microsoft Edge.

Expected behavior

Pausing the recording should not affect the rendering or responsiveness of the application being recorded.

After pausing and resuming the recording, the selected window should continue to update normally, including:

  • Webpage rendering
  • Scrolling
  • PDF rendering
  • Window updates and interactions

Affected application

Microsoft Edge

Operating System

Windows

Additional information

The issue appears to be related to recording a specific window rather than recording the entire screen. It is especially noticeable when the selected window is Microsoft Edge and the content contains dynamic webpage rendering or PDF documents.
