With a key operand, uutils accepts -N together with -q and prints the name. procps-ng 4.0.7 rejects the combination.
$ procps sysctl -N -q kernel.ostype; echo $?
kernel.ostype

$ /usr/sbin/sysctl -N -q kernel.ostype; echo $?
sysctl: options -N and -q cannot coexist

Joined and long forms behave the same way, as do options placed after the operand. procps-ng accepts the combination when -a, -A, -X, or --all is present.
