Línea de trabajo

Start with apps/www/src/registry/components/editor/column.tsx at the column handle and apps/www/src/registry/components/editor/dnd.tsx at startBlockDrag; compare the column drag path with the block handles and review #5223 for related behavior. Reproduce the two-column drag in Firefox and trace the drop handling. Done means the left column moves to the right with its content and a clear drop position appears while dragging.

Descripción

bug firefox plugin:column plugin:dnd target:beta

Testing lane

  • Repository: udecode/plate
  • Branch: next
  • Release channel: Beta
  • Exact commit/package version: NOT_ENOUGH_INFO

Summary

On https://beta.platejs.org/docs/column in Firefox, dragging the left column by its top handle to the right of the right column does not move it, and no clear drop indicator shows at the right edge. The column menu's Move right works. Sin found it and confirmed it by hand.

Reproduction

Repro 1: /docs/column, Firefox

Sin, by hand, in Firefox 158 on 2026-10-20 (Beijing time).

  1. Open https://beta.platejs.org/docs/column. In the two-column demo, type AAA in the left column and BBB in the right column.
  2. Hold the horizontal dots handle at the top center of the left column.
  3. Drag it past the right edge of the right column and release.

Results:

  • The columns do not change places.
  • While dragging, no clear drop indicator shows at the right edge.
  • Clicking the same handle and choosing Move right in its menu moves the column.

An agent tried the drag in Firefox 158 the same day. It saw a drop line, but its automation never got a complete drop and dragend, so its run neither confirms nor rules out the failure. Sin's hand check is the source here, and Sin asked for no further retest.

Expected

The column moves to the right of the other column with its content, and the drop position shows while dragging. On platejs.org (v1), #5003 fixed column reordering by drag for #5001.

Actual

As listed under Results.

Environment

  • Exact next commit/Beta package version: NOT_ENOUGH_INFO. The page does not show its build.
  • Firefox 158.0 on macOS, 2026-10-20 (Beijing time).
  • There is no recording of the failed drag. Sin's screenshot only shows which handle was used.
  • Not tried in Chrome, Safari or on a phone. Not replayed on the live Beta after 2026-10-20.

Caveat

From a reading of the code on next 19023d2e3d, not checked with a debugger:

  • The column handle starts a native drag through startBlockDrag (apps/www/src/registry/components/editor/column.tsx:119, defined at apps/www/src/registry/components/editor/dnd.tsx:44), the same entry the block handles use (dnd.tsx:305).
  • #5003 fixed the stable site by attaching the column's react-dnd drop ref. That code is gone on next, so #5003 says nothing about Beta.
  • #5223 is another failure on this drag path, where a block drag copies instead of moving. Nobody has checked whether the two share a cause.

Related

  • #5001: the v1 report of this, fixed by #5003 and closed. Sin added a comment there on 2026-10-20 with the first Beta sighting.
  • #5223: Dragging a block copies it instead of moving it.
