Start with the export documentation's filter clause and reproduce the issue using the provided tabcmd commands, comparing a simple role name with one containing a comma. Trace how the --filter value is parsed and how asterisks substitute for restricted characters. Done means the documented replacement produces the intended Tableau role-name match and the export includes the visualization.

documentation Needs Investigation server-side

Hi, thank you for building this great tool! I'd like to raise a query about running an export command on a Tableau dashboard view. I am using the same export command for a number of country x role name filter combinations, and it works great for role names without commas, e.g.

tabcmd export "[workbook]?Country=USA" --pdf -f [filename] --filter "Role name=Cashiers"
cashiers

However, when I try to follow the instruction from within the export documentation (see below):

Note:In both formats, the filter clause cannot contain a colon (:), a comma (,) or an ampersand (&). You must replace each of these characters with an asterisk ()

...this does not appear to be interpreted correctly and the output seems not to have matched to any role name (no visualisation is displayed):

tabcmd export "[workbook]?Country=USA" --pdf -f [filename] --filter "Role name=Appraisers* Real Estate"
appraisers

Whereas this is what I can see in Tableau, for context:
tableau

Thank you for any help you can provide. I tried escaping the * with , just using the comma, and switching the filter into the URL, but just can't quite figure it out.
