Reproduce the sequence on macOS with a MacBook Pro and Studio Display arranged vertically: cycle a window through the mapped halves with Control-W, then compare it with the thirds and first-two-thirds mappings. The fix is done when repeated half cycling keeps the window on its current display and follows the expected left/right sequence.

Descripción

I have a MacBook Pro with a Studio Display plugged in, arranged above the MBP. I have thirds, halves, and first two thirds mapped to ^Q, ^W, and ^E, respectively, and ^Q and ^E do exactly what I want, cycling through the thirds and two thirds for a window on the display it is currently on, without moving the window to the other display.

However, cycling through halves does move displays:

  • Focus a window on the studio display
  • Type ^W, it moves to the left half of the studio display, as expected
  • Type ^W again, it moves to the right half of the MBP, instead of the right half of the studio display
  • Type ^W again, it moves to the left half of the MBP
  • Type ^W again, it moves to the right half of the studio display

I expect the window to stay on its current display, like the first third and first two thirds cycles do.
