Línea de trabajo

Start by reproducing with the two files in the report: a manuscript project whose _quarto.yml sets code-overflow: scroll, with index.qmd at the root and notebooks/analyses.qmd in a subfolder. Compare the rendered pre output for each file to see where the wrapping comes from, since the root page scrolls and the linked file does not. Done means the linked file's code blocks scroll horizontally like the index page, with the option applied consistently across the manuscript.

Bug description

When writing a Quarto manuscript, my linked .qmd files wrap long lines of code rather than applying a horizontal sidebar, even when specifying code-overflow: scroll in my _quarto.yml. Interestingly, the horizontal scrollbar works fine in the index.qmd file. However, the code lines wrap (rather than using a horizontal scrollbar) for linked .qmd files (e.g., files placed in a "notebooks" folder).

Steps to reproduce

_quarto.yml:

project:
  type: manuscript

format:
  html:
    code-overflow: scroll
    toc: true

index.qmd (this code yields a horizontal scrollbar, as expected):

---
title: "my-empty-project"
---

```{r}
#| results: hold
print("Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World!")
print("Bye")
```
Wide code yields a horizontal scrollbar, as expected

notebooks/analyses.qmd (this code wraps, which is not desired):

---
title: "Analyses"
---

```{r}
#| results: hold
print("Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World! Hello World!")
print("Bye")
```
Wide code leads to wrapping, which is not desired
Actual behavior

The long code lines wrap.

Expected behavior

Applying a horizontal scrollbar to scroll the wide code.
