Start with the UI strings and packaging files; the issue does not name specific files, so use make start to inspect the demo app and read CONTRIBUTING.md for project guidance. Run make test for the core tests. Done means UI strings use gettext, po/POTFILES and a .pot exist, make install and the .deb install compiled .mo files, and Italian and Simplified Chinese translations are started.
