The payload names no files, so begin in the repository's notes list component and find where each item renders its title and first-line preview. Then check how existing user display settings are stored and read. Done when a "Single-line titles in the notes list" setting exists, the default keeps the two-line layout, and enabling it hides the preview so each note fits on one line.

Currently, the Notes app always displays the note title along with a preview of the first line of its content underneath.

While this preview may be useful for some users, it can also make the notes list unnecessarily cluttered, especially when working with a large number of notes.

Personally, I find the additional content preview more distracting than helpful. I would prefer a compact list that displays only the titles of my notes, with each note occupying a single line.

Current Workaround

To achieve a cleaner appearance, I currently insert the following line at the beginning of every note:

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

This prevents meaningful content from appearing in the preview, leaving only the note titles as useful information in the list.

However, this is clearly not an ideal or sustainable solution, as it requires modifying the actual content of every note just to change how the list is displayed.

Suggested Improvement

Please add a setting called "Single-line titles in the notes list" that hides the content preview and displays only the note title.

When enabled:

  • Each note occupies exactly one line in the list.
  • Only the note title is displayed.
  • The content preview underneath the title is hidden.
  • The existing two-line layout remains available as the default option.

Expected Benefit

This would provide a cleaner, more compact and easier-to-navigate notes list, particularly for users who manage many notes and rely primarily on their titles for navigation.

It would also eliminate the need for workarounds that unnecessarily modify note content.
