Línea de trabajo

Read iocatalogue.h and the existing USB, ACPI, or PCI matcher work from #358 to understand the provider and scan patterns. Then inspect the bus ivars and Darwin matching keys for HID, virtio, and VMBus, along with kext-meta.py and data/decisions.tsv in nextbsd-kernel-extensions. Done means all three buses support matching, nomatch handling, present scans, and kext metadata, and the held drivers are flipped and regenerated.

Descripción

Epic nextbsd/nextbsd#546 (E21 D12).

Under the autoload rule, a hardware driver ships as a kext only if the in-kernel matcher can load it. #358 added USB, ACPI _HID and PCI class. Drivers whose only MODULE_PNP_INFO table is on another bus are still held. The list is data/not-converted.tsv in nextbsd-kernel-extensions, the rows that read "held: no ID table the kernel matches".

  • HID bus (hidbus): game controllers, multitouch, security keys and raw HID (hgame, hms, hmt, hkbd, xb360gp's HID side and others). HIDGame ships today only as a library.
  • virtio: virtio drivers that are not compiled in.
  • VMBus: the Hyper-V drivers.

Each bus needs:

  • a provider in iocatalogue.h;
  • nomatch handling that reads the bus's ivars;
  • a present-scan walk;
  • kextd support for the Darwin key (for HID, IOHIDDevice with VendorID/ProductID/PrimaryUsagePage/PrimaryUsage);
  • support in kext-meta.py in nextbsd-kernel-extensions.

Then flip the drivers in data/decisions.tsv and regenerate.
