The payload names no source files. The entry points are the ms auth login --device-code command and the ms auth status check, plus the MS_CLI_USE_MMA_APP_ID environment variable and the PowerAppsCodeAppCLI client ID. Reproducing needs a Windows machine with Node.js 24.19.0 and an isolated MS_CLI_CONFIG_DIR. The issue asks whether this client ID is supported for device-code sign-in, so a maintainer decision comes before any code change. Done means the token request succeeds or the failure reports its AADSTS suberror and correlation ID.

Description
On Windows with Node.js 24.19.0, ms auth login --device-code fails with post_request_failed: invalid_client. The device sign-in page confirms sign-in to PowerAppsCodeAppCLI, but the CLI does not obtain a token and ms auth status remains Not signed in.
The issue reproduces with CLI versions 0.27.0, 0.28.0, and 0.29.0. For the 0.27.0 test, I used pnpm dlx with an isolated MS_CLI_CONFIG_DIR. MS_CLI_USE_MMA_APP_ID=1 was set for the attempts.
Steps to reproduce
- Run
ms auth login --device-code. - Complete sign-in for
PowerAppsCodeAppCLIin the browser. - Observe that the CLI returns
post_request_failed: invalid_client. - Run
ms auth status; it reportsNot signed in.
Expected behavior
The CLI obtains a token after device sign-in and reports an authenticated session.
Actual behavior
Token acquisition fails with post_request_failed: invalid_client. The CLI output does not include an AADSTS suberror or correlation ID.
Could you confirm whether this client ID and MS_CLI_USE_MMA_APP_ID=1 are supported for device-code sign-in, and advise how to diagnose this failure?
